Inaugural Meeting of the Asian Mind Sports Association Held in Bangkok, Ushering in a New Era for Mi
OnFebruary25,theInauguralMeetingoftheAsianMindSportsAssociation(AMSA)wassuccessfullyheldinBangkok,Thailand,markingasignificantmilestoneinthedevelopmentofmindsportsacrossAsia.
TheAMSAwasestablishedinaccordancewiththeresolutionspassedbytheExecutiveBoardandGeneralAssemblyoftheOlympicCouncilofAsia(OCA).InitiatedbytheOCA,theassociationunitesNationalOlympicCommitteesandnationalmindsportsorganizationsfromacrossthecontinent.ItsmissionistopromotethepopularizationandadvancementofmindsportsinAsiaandtostrengthentheregion’sinfluenceontheglobalstage.
CaptainHusainAlMusallam,SecretaryGeneraloftheOlympicCouncilofAsia,deliveredtheopeningaddressatthemeeting.Duringthesession,delegatesreviewedandadoptedthedraftconstitutionoftheAMSA—animportantstepreflectingthesharedvisionandcollectivewisdomoftheparticipatingnations,andlayingasolidinstitutionalfoundationfortheassociation’sfuturedevelopment.
Attheconference,membersoftheExecutiveCommitteeforthefirstterm(2025–2029)wereelected.GordonTang,VicePresidentoftheOlympicCouncilofAsia,waselectedasPresidentoftheAsianMindSportsAssociation.AnmarAhmadifromBahrain,AlimzhanAkayevfromKazakhstan,DuLifromHongKong,China,ThinleyPaldenDorjifromBhutan,andAbrahamTolentinofromthePhilippineswereelectedasVicePresidents.
Inhisaddressfollowingtheelection,PresidentGordonTangstated:
“TheAsianMindSportsAssociationwillupholdtheprinciplesoffairness,justice,andtransparency.Wearecommittedtoworkinghand-in-handwithmindsportsorganizationsthroughoutAsiatopromotethevibrantdevelopmentofmindsportsacrosstheregion.”
Attheconclusionofthemeeting,theofficiallogooftheAssociationwasunveiled,symbolizingasharedaspirationtocultivateadynamicandinclusivemindsportsculturethroughoutAsia.
ThescopeoftheAMSAcoversthefivemajorboardgamesaswellasvariousdisciplinesofpoker.AccordingtotheAssociation’sdevelopmentplan,thefirstAsianEsportsandMindSportsGames isscheduledfor2025,aimingtobringtogethereliteplayersfromacrosstheregiontoshowcasetheuniquecombinationofintellectualprowessandcompetitivespirit.
